| China has been an agricultural country with the family as the basic unit of production in a long term,which has formed the traditional cultural mentality of nostalgic provincialism.Nostalgic provincialism is not only an important feature of Chinese culture,but also a common emotional keynote of the Chinese nation.With the acceleration of urbanization,more and more people move out of their hometowns and get involved in the trend of globalization.Homesickness has become an emotional experience for the people.The documentary named "The Old Floating Generation-Where is the Hometown" is mainly for the elderly who move far away from their homelands to Guangzhou to take good care of their grandchildren.With the follow-up shoot in half a year,it factually reveals the old’s efforts,intergenerational conflicts,nostalgia,and also naturally presents the plain feelings that the aged are not willing to leave their children,but miss the homeland in front of an audience.Combined with the creation process of the documentary,this paper discusses the documentary film presentation of the relocation of traditional culture from the perspectives of narrative expression,audio-visual language and shooting process.Especially,the narrative expression of nostalgic provincialism focus on the perspective of theme selection,character image building,narrative form analysis.The audio-visual language of local culture is expressed from the aspects of picture,sound and rhythm.Through these means of expression,the audience can get close to such an old group and appreciate their love and sadness of moving far away their home.It highlights the contradiction between the traditional ideology and the urbanization process,and we also hope to arouse the attention of the society to the fate of "old drifts". |
