Russian literature plays an important role in the world.Along with the development of Sino-Russian relations, cultural exchanges between the two countries have become more intensive.More and more russian literature works are introduced to China, including many great children’s literature works.Translating these works into Chinese are not only helpful for strengthening the cultural communication between Russia and China, but also benificial to the education and growth of children. This is a translation report. The report is based on two fairy tale “Marileana’s secret” and “Clabiwa and Marlena” which are from “Fantasy story: Yelena’s New Adventure”.The original author is Petrushevskaya who is one of the “three outstanding women” in contemporary Russian literature. She started to write fairy tales in the mid-1980 s.Some of her works are positive and full of simpleness and the two stories are chosen from her positive works. The translation works will be analysed in this thesis.A lot of preparations were made before translation to analysed the features of the sentences and words,as well as to establish the principles of faithfulness, expressiveness and elegance. The sentenses and vocabularies of the fairy tale text will be mainly discussed in translation process.Interjections, onomatopoeia and idioms are applied in vocabulary translation to make the transaltion more vivid.Addition, omission and division are applied in sentence translation to make the translation much more fluent.A summarize has been made after the translation to talk about the achievements and shortcomings. There is few translations of Petrushevskaya’s fairy tales in China, and no Chinese versions of the two selected fairy tales have been found.Hoping to improve translation ability and provide a reference for future translation of children’s literature through this translation practice.
