The production of Western-style screen paintings in the Ming and Qing Dynasties in China and the production of Japanese Namban screen paintings both are the products of the first large-scale exchanges between China, the West and Japan. The Chinese Western-style screen paintings in the Ming and Qing Dynasties and Japanese Namban screen paintings have used the style characteristics of Western painting in themes, compositions, colors, materials and techniques. There are few depictions of Western things in Chinese Western wind screen paintings, but the shadows and traces of Western paintings can be seen in terms of light and darkness and perspective methods. In this similar period, the relationship between the two countries and the West is similar, and the result is that China has always been based on its own traditions.Although it has learned from Western painting style techniques,it has always been based on tradition and prudent foreign elements. After screening,it was applied to his own paintings;while Japan was more capable of accepting foreign things and was good at absorbing the technical style of foreign paintings, although the influence of Western painting was hidden after the government suppressed the ban.But it has had a profound impact on Japanese painting. The Western-style screen paintings of the Ming and Qing Dynasties in China laid a certain practical foundation for the development of the Lingnan painting school and the Reformed School. The Japanese Namban screen also had a profound influence on the Japanese lacquer craft and the modern screen painting.Through the comparative analysis of painting themes, style features, color composition, craft techniques and other aspects of the Western-style screen paintings in the Ming and Qing Dynasties and the Japanese Namban screen paintings, the study of these two screen paintings has reference significance for the development of Chinese screen paintings.
