A Philosophical Image Meditation

Hungarian director Bella Tarr is dedicated to deep thinking on grand themes such as life,destiny and philosophy.He is good at using black and white photography and long lenses,focusing on narrative art and image expression,pursuing the ingenious combination of film form and content,using metaphorical Rhetoric presents Hungarian social reality in the late20 th century.Whether for Hungarian films or for films from all over the world,Bella Tarr created his unique set of experimental film lens language,and formed his own poetic and pure contemplation in a few film works.Philosophical image style.Tarr’s images contain themes of deepness,sorrow,and nothingness,as well as haze,cold rain,wilderness,overcast wind,mud,and other elements.This is an important film symbol in Bella Tarr’s film works.The main research object of this thesis is Bella Tarr’s contemplative film director style.The first chapter mainly introduces Tarr’s own experience,background and different creative stages;the second chapter is about Bella Tarr’s film theme.Analysis: Bella Tarr’s reflections on the meaning of life,the loss of human spirit and emotions,and political issues;Chapter III discusses the characteristics of Bella Tarr’s overall image style,including the application of long shots and the theme of long shots Design of connotation,sound and dialogue,and use of space.On the basis of intensive reading of film texts,the author attempts to objectively and systematically explore Bella Tarr’s film works in combination with theories such as film author theory,film aesthetics,and film semiotics.It can further improve the theoretical framework of Bella Tarr’s film aesthetics,thereby tapping its unique aesthetic value.
