The complex and changeable social environment makes the individual’s career development full of unpredictability and uncertainty.High school students are in a critical period of career development,facing the dual pressure of study and career at the same time.Individuals at this stage not only need good quality,but also need the ability to adapt to changes.Career adaptability is considered as an important indicator of career preparation and a key ability for career success.It is necessary for us to discuss the influencing factors and the internal influencing mechanism of high school students’ career adaptability.Previous studies have found that purpose in life is a psychological structure that predicts the positive development of individuals,and it can positively predict the development of adaptation.However,few studies have further explored whether the relationship between the two is affected by the third variable and which third variable.Due to the intentional self-regulation is the positive psychological foundation of the development of the teenagers.Relevant theories have mentioned that both individual factors and environmental factors play a role in the positive development of individuals through intentional self-regulation.Therefore,on the basis of exploring the relationship between sense of purpose in life and career adaptability from the perspective of positive psychology,this study introduced the mediating variable of intentional self-regulation to deeply analyze the internal influencing mechanism of high school students’ career adaptability.In order to understand the development characteristics of high school students’ career adaptability,and to provide a basis for middle schools to carry out targeted career education.In this study,720 students in three grades from three high schools in Qingdao were selected as subjects,chose high reliability and validity of the purpose in life scale,intentional self-regulation questionnaire and career adaptability scale,used SPSS21.0 and AMOS21.0 to conduct statistical analysis on the collected data and establish the corresponding structural equation model.The development characteristics and related demographic differences of high school students’ sense of purpose in life,career adaptability and intentional self-regulation were clearly understood.The following conclusions are drawn:1.There are significant differences in high school students’ sense of purpose in their grades and their mothers’ education level,there were significant differences in career adaptability level in gender,family residence and mother’s education level,there were significant differences in intentional self-regulation ability in grade,family residence and mother’s education level.2.The three variables of sense of purpose in life,career adaptability and intentional self-regulation were positively correlated with each other.The development of sense of purpose in life and career adaptability;Intentional self-regulation and its dimensions significantly positively predicted the development of career adaptability.3.Intentionality self-regulation plays a part in mediating between the sense of purpose in life and the career adaptability.In other words,the sense of purpose in life can directly affect career adaptability,and it can also indirectly affect career adaptability through intentional self-regulation.
