The Artistic Technique In Solokub's Novel "The Legend Of Creation"-grotesque

The term “grotesque” comes from French “grotesque”,appeared in the Renaissance,meaning “funny”,“fantasy”,“weird”.The term “grotesque”originally limited to Roman decorative and applied art,and then slowly began to apply in literary works.As a common artistic technique in literature,grotesque deliberately destroys the principle of realism with the alienated image,bizarrely and illogically combines the image level and artistic details that cannot be combined in reality,achieves a mindblowing effect.From random work of Shakespeare,Hoffman and Hugo in the west to Gogol,Dostoevsky and Saltikoff-Shetlin in Russia can confirm,that the grotesque from ancient times to the present is a popular technique in world literature.F.k.Sologub is an outstanding representative of Russian modernist symbolism.Different from other symbolist poets,Sologub's achievements in novels are no less than in poetry.In the novel,on the one hand,he uses exaggerated brushstrokes to outline and magnify the rough reality of the world.On the other hand,he combines the grotesque with symbol and fantasy,etc.He hides his own understanding of human existence and the alternative understanding of the world under the bizarre story.The novel ?Creative legend? is such a work.In the book,the author not only inherits the grotesque technique of writers such as Gogol,but also takes this approach a step further,combining mysticism and morbid illusions,and bringing the role of grotesque technique to a very high level.Taking the novel ?Creative legend? as an example,this thesis explores the origin and embodiment of Sologub's grotesque technique,and analyzes the characters and plots created by the author with grotesque technique.Studying the grotesque techniques in Sologub's creation is of great significance for understanding the writer's artistic world,and opens up new possibilities for understanding the creative atmosphere of Russia in the early 20 th century.
