Wuhan is a famous cultural city.From Panlong City 3500 years ago to early twentieth Century,British magazine called Hankou "China's Manchester",and American magazine also called it "Oriental Chicago".In 1917,Sun Yat-sen sketched a grand blueprint for Wuhan "just like New York and London",enjoying the reputation of "thoroughfare of nine provinces".The image of a city is undoubtedly equal to the external embodiment of the core competitiveness of a city.A good image of a city helps to enhance the cohesion of the city's people.As a cultural soft power of the city's development,it can reflect more obvious comprehensive effect than economic benefit cohesion.With the development of information technology,human beings have entered the era of picture reading,which makes us live in a world surrounded by images.In the era of visual communication,how to spread the city image is a new topic.This paper takes Wuhan as a case,on the basis of clarifying the characteristics of visual communication and related concepts of urban image,analyzes the basis of positioning of urban image in Wuhan.By using the methods of literature study,case analysis and comparative study,this paper discusses the current situation and existing problems of Wuhan city image,including the lack of outstanding overall image of the city,the lack of personality and characteristics;the lack of foresight of overall urban construction planning,the poor material environment;the unclear positioning of the city image,the lack of obvious differentiation;the lack of urban cultural development,the lack of city City humanistic spirit,etc.In view of these problems,guided by the theory of visual art and communication,this paper puts forward countermeasures and suggestions to grasp the rules of visual communication and construct the image of Wuhan City,such as grasping the main body of urban image communication;multi-media integrated communication;constructing the public relations system of Wuhan city image,etc.Through the comparative analysis of the experience of the same type of city image communication at home and abroad,it can provide reference for the city image communication of Wuhan.Through the combination of visual communication and urban image communication,and the integration of public art and public aesthetic communication,we can create a harmonious cultural environment,provide a new perspective for the urban image communication of Wuhan,improve the high reputation and low reputation in the process of urban image communication of Wuhan,and improve the overall urban image of Wuhan.Hope that in theory and practice can provide ideas and reference for the relevant management departments in Wuhan.
