Around 1978,China’s ideological circle was at a turning point.The end of the "Cultural Revolution" marks the end of a decade-long catastrophe.China urgently needs to break the yoke of ideology left by the "Cultural Revolution" and proceed to an ideological liberation.However,the intellectuals had been regarded as representatives of the "Bourgeoisie" since the late 1950 s.By publicizing "Red and Special",people antagonized politics and business.“More knowledge,more reactionary” became a creed,which firmly controlled people ’s thoughts.Ideological liberation should be nonsense unless the rigidity and confinement of thoughts left by the "Cultural Revolution" was broken.In order to break that situation and establish the concept of "Respecting knowledge and talent",Chen Jingrun was commended as a model at the National Science Conference and affirmed by the leaders.But people who experienced the "Cultural Revolution" period had not been able to break through the shackles of dogmatism,and thoughts then were still in chaos.When the public of China Youth resumed,it intended to have a further discussion of Whether should advocate learning from Chen Jingrun among the youth.Through the interaction and discussion of letters from readers to understand the doubts existing in young people’s thoughts and to get a clear understanding of the nature of “Red” and “White”.So that to gradually change the society’s incorrect understanding of intellectuals and guide young people to set an example for learning in the new era.This discussion has also become the beginning of ideological liberation.However,in the initial stage of the ideological emancipation process,the road was not in a plain sailing.These obstacles were closely related to the ideological legacy of the "Cultural Revolution" and the ideological debates of leaders.However,it was in the wrestling of these factors that the process of ideological emancipation in China gradually proceed,and the magazine China Youth also played a certain role in promoting this process.
