Objective:To explore the influence of basketball intervention on self-control and aggressive behavior of college students and to test the mediation effect of self-control in the relationship between basketball intervention and aggressive behavior. In order to provide the foundation for developing the exercise intervention program to reduce the aggression of college students.Methods:103 students in Yangzhou University were selected by convenient sampling as the research object and divided into experimental group(28 males and 23 females)and control group(30 males and 22 females). The experimental group was intervened for 12 weeks,2 times a week, with 30 minutes' moderate strength basketball intervention. The control group was performed no motion intervention. Before the experiment and after the intervention, they were measured in the class by using the Self-control Scale and Aggression Questionnaire.Results:(1)Basketball intervention improved college students' impulse control[F(1,101)=9.105,P<0.01,?2p=0.083],focus on work[F(1,101)=6.488,P<0.05,?2p=0.060],controlling entertainment[F(1,101)=10.285,P<0.01,?2p=0.092]and self-control[F(1,101)=19.451,P<0.01,?2P=0.161]:Basketball intervention reduced college students' physical aggression[F(1,101)=30.065,P<0.01,?2p=0.229],anger[F(1,101)=20.718,P<0.01,?2p=0.170],hostility[F(1,10O1)=11.198,P<0.01,?2p=0.100]and aggressive behavior[F(1,101)=48.219,P<0.01,?2p=0.323].(2)The effect of basketball intervention on aggression of the college students dependence could partly be explained by the mediation effect of self-control,and the effect of mediation is 0.350.Conclusions:(1)Basketball intervention can improve college students' self-control and reduce college students' aggression.(2)Basketball intervention not only directly affect college students' aggression, but also indirectly reduce college students' aggression by improving self-control.
