The purpose of this retrospective study was to examine the prevalence of hepatitis A and B exposure, immunity status, and hepatitis A and B immunization history of hemophilia and von Willebrand's patients. The research question given was: Are Hemophilia and von Willebrand's patients being adequately protected from hepatitis A and B.; The study looked at 68 subjects enrolled at the Hemophilia Treatment Center at Charleston Area Medical Center. Descriptive and inferential analysis of the data suggested that there was a gap in the immunization history and immunity titers of the hemophilia and von Willebrands patients. It was also suggested that age may play a role in determining a patients ability to maintain a protective immunity status and if they completed a hepatitis immunization series. Descriptive analysis also showed that patients who had low or nondetected anti-hepatitis A and B titers were not receiving hepatitis immunization boosters.
