Abstract/Summary:
Let a1, a 2, b1, and b2 be real numbers. The period 2 second order linear recurrence system is defined to be the sequence x 0= 1, x 1 = a1, and x2n+2=a2x2n+1+b1 x2n, x2n+3=a1x2n+2+b2 x2n+1, for n ≥ 0. We will show that for n ≥ 4, xn=a1a2+b 1+b2xn-2-b 1b2xn-4 Then we will find and prove a similar identity for the period k ≥ 2 second order linear recurrence system.
