| ADHD is becoming one of the most frequently diagnosed mental health disorders of childhood in the United States. This study is a secondary analysis of data extracted from the California Health Interview Survey child dataset to compare and examine the differences in ADHD diagnosis status (children with ADHD vs. children without ADHD) in such variables as demographics, emotional and behavior issues, health condition, presence of comorbid conditions, and usage of healthcare services.;A total sample of 1,637 participants' answers were utilized in this study. Of the participants, 285 were diagnosed with ADHD, and 1,372 did not have an ADHD diagnosis. Chi-square analyses were run to compare chosen variables against ADHD diagnosis status. This study found significant relationships between many of these variables, including gender, age, health care usage, comorbid asthma diagnosis, and certain emotional/behavior problems. |
