Design and synthesis of a library of novel aminosugars and the anti-bacterial activity of a new class of aminoglycoside antibiotics | Posted on:2005-04-29 | Degree:M.S | Type:Thesis | University:Utah State University | Candidate:Elchert, Bryan | Full Text:PDF | GTID:2454390008483508 | Subject:Chemistry | Abstract/Summary: | | A structurally diverse library of novel aminosugars was designed and synthesized using a divergent synthetic strategy. This library of novel aminosugars was then used to create a new class of aminoglycoside antibiotics called pyranmycins. These pyranmycins were then assayed for antibacterial properties against E. coli bacteria and the results of the assay were used in structure-activity relationship studies of the pyranmycins. These structure-activity relationship studies can provide valuable information useful for the synthesis of antibiotics with increased antibacterial activity. | Keywords/Search Tags: | Novel aminosugars, Library, Antibiotics, Structure-activity relationship studies, New class | | Related items |
