Renaissance, Mannerist anad Baroque painting in the films of Pier Paolo Pasolini

Italian filmmaker Pier Paolo Pasolini cited Renaissance, Mannerist and Baroque paintings in the films he scripted and directed between 1961 and 1975, the year of his death. He copied subject matter, composition, expressiveness, atmosphere and details in frames that come to life as tableaux vivants. Primary sources in Renaissance, Mannerist and Baroque Painting in the Films of Pier Paolo Pasolini include Pasolini's films and selected texts by the filmmaker. Secondary sources include texts regarding paintings cited in his films, and those written about him and his oeuvre. The thesis comprises seven chapters. (1) introduction, (2) his life and times, (3) his filmmaking career, (4) Pasolini and painting (5) painting in his early films, (6) painting in his later films and (7) conclusion.
