He copied subject matter, composition, expressiveness, atmosphere and details in frames that come to life as tableaux vivants. Primary sources in Renaissance, Mannerist and Baroque Painting in the Films of Pier Paolo Pasolini include Pasolini's films and selected texts by the filmmaker. Secondary sources include texts regarding paintings cited in his films, and those written about him and his oeuvre. The thesis comprises seven chapters.
