Abstract/Summary:
Study of Dead Time and compensation scheme for Permanent magnet synchronous motor is presented in this research work. Dead time is an important factor influencing the low speed performance of the ac drives. Dead Time though prevents the shortage of the legs of the inverter, but causes serious distortions in the voltage and hence phase current leading to harmonics in the current and thus creating torque ripple and severely affecting the performance of the motor. In this research work FOC scheme of the motor is implemented using F28035 processor and dynamic dead time compensation scheme is implemented which based on current polarity counters the distortion effect of the dead time. Dead Time effects and compensation scheme is discussed in detail with the FFT analysis of the motor phase current.
