A Study On The Diversity Within The Bryoflora Of Motuo,Xizang

Motuo County is located in the southeast of Tibet,approximately between N27°34??29°56? and E 93°46?96°05?,while covers an area of 34,000 square kilometers.This area is located in the south of the eastern Himalaya,which enjoys the subtropical humid climate of the eastern side of the Himalaya.The terrain of this area is steep,with the largest topographic change in the world and prominent vertical zonations.Because of inconvenient transportation,a few investigations and studies of bryophyte diversity have been carried out in Motuo.In order to understand the bryophyte diversity of this area further,Prof.Zhang Li and Dr.Zuo Qin carried out a field survey focusing on bryophytes in June 2014,and more than 900 specimens were collected.Based on the inditifications of the collections and the review of literatures,the knowledge about the bryoflora of Motuo is greatly improved.The major results are as follows:(1)The update checklist of bryophytes in Motuo consists of 578 species in76 families and 228 genera,of which 135 species in 26 families and 46 genera are liverworts,2 species in 2 families and 2 genera are hornworts,and,and 441 species in48 families and 180 genera are mosses;(2)One new species,1 species new to China and 96 species(belonging to 74 genera and 46 families)new to Tibet were reported,while 2 species listed as endangered in China were found;(3)The largest families of liverworts are Lejeuneaceae and Plagiochilaceae,and the largest one of mosses are Pottiaceae,Meteoricaceae,Brachytheciaceae,Hypnaceae and other 4 families;(4)Thirteen phytogeographical elements were recognized,in which Tropical Asian element(138 species)is the commonest and Temperate element(91 species)is the second which account for 25.79% and 17.01% of this bryoflora respectively.In terms of phytogeographical affinity,Mt.Wuyi is mostly close to the Motuo's among the six regions compared.
