With the advantages of high transmission efficiency, constant transmission ratio, long service life, etc, gear transmission system which can transmit power and motion has been used in various mechanical products. The transmission performance of the entire machine is determined directly by the performance of gear transmission system as a core of mechanical system. To reduce the transmission error of gear transmission system, the influence of various errors on transmission accuracy must be studied. The finite element method(FEM)is one of the most important and effective techniques of contact analysis. With FEM,the method of establishing tooth surface error model is studied based on a better hexahedron mesh generation for gear model in this paper. And the influence of gear profile error, tooth pitch error and center distance deviation on transmission error is analyzed based on the gear contact model established by this way.The maj or study context in this paper includes:(1)The 3D model of gear is established accurately based on the basic knowledge of the geometry of involute cylindrical gear.According to the principle of involute meshing, the involute equation, transition curve equation and helix equation are obtained, and the gear tooth profile of end face is divided into four parts:transmission curve, involute, top circle and root circle.Based on this,an accurate 3D model of gear meshing is established in CAD software Pro/ENGINEER.(2)Contact analysis and accuracy verification of involute gear.Using HyperMesh software's powerful meshing ability, meshing hexahedron mesh for 3D model of gear and refining the mesh on the contact area of gear tooth part, the generated isolated mesh is imported into ABAQUS to complete the finite element contact model of involute gear and the accuracy of the finite element contact model is verified by comparing with the numerical solution based on Hertz theory.(3)The influence of tooth profile error, tooth pitch error and center distance deviation on transmission error is analyzed and studied.Using MATLAB program to generate tooth profile error, tooth pitch error and center distance deviation, through the editing ability of the grid node in the HyperMesh software, the error is embedded into the finite element model by the way of node movement and gear integral movement to generated the error gear model. The influence law of different error factors on the transmission error and contact stress of gear transmission system is analyzed, and the conclusion which provides the basis for the transmission design of precision gear is that the tooth profile deviation and the offset of the tooth distance have great influence on the contact stress, and the eccentricity error has the most significant influence on the transmission error.
