Research On The Method Of Map Design Supporting Automatic Cartography

Map production includes map design,map compilation and map output,and map design is the core link in map production.There are two kinds of commonly used map design platforms: GIS software and cartographic software.They are not software specifically designed for map design.There are problems with poor cartographic representation effects or low efficiency of map design and production.It is necessary to study the construction methods of professional map design environment.In the existing cartographic process,there is no visual design environment between data and automatic cartography.Map design usually uses tools with information-based language description and flow-based configuration.The design results are parameterized cartographic rules and templates.The designers can't directly feel and evaluate the design results.It's difficult to achieve the "what you see is what you get",which leads to the repeated modification and realization of the design results,this kind of map design method reduces the efficiency of cartography.In order to solve the problem of lack of visual design environment between data and cartography in the existing cartography technology,this paper proposes a method of map design supporting automatic cartography,aims to build a visual map design environment based on the knowledge of map design and cartography,and integrates the GIS database with the description information of cartography expression suitable for the general cartography software in the design environment,so that the results of map design can meet the requirements of automatic cartography in general cartographic software.The purpose of this study is to build a bridge between data and automatic cartography,without affecting the data integrity and retaining the cartographic technology of existing cartographic software,provide a visual design environment supporting automatic cartography,reduce the design threshold,and improve the overall efficiency of map design and automatic cartography the effects of cartography.The research content of this paper is mainly divided into the following parts:(1)Based on the research related to the design of map content and expression,the elements of map design are defined for the automatic cartographic environment.the elements of map design include map elements,expression elements,and rule elements.The content of each element and its role in map design and automatic cartography are studied,which provides a theoretical basis for the construction of map design environment.(2)In view of the lack of visual map design environment between GIS data and cartography,a map design platform based on the Geo-Carto hybrid model was designed,and the overall framework,construction ideas and implementation mechanism of map design environment are designed based on the elements of map design and componentbased ideas.The functions and components of map design environment are designed,and the component combination mechanism supporting visual map design is studied.Because of the combination of GIS data and the characteristics of cartographic software in the cartographic design environment,the design results support the automatic cartography in the cartographic software,and the embedded implementation mechanism of the design results in the cartographic software is studied.(3)According to the method of map design supporting automatic cartography proposed in this paper,the map design system and Corel DRAW automatic cartography plug-in are designed and implemented,the construction of professional map design environment and the automatic cartography software based on the design results are realized.Based on the experimental results,the theory and method studied in this paper are feasible and effective,can build a visual map design environment supporting automatic cartography,improve the overall efficiency of map design and automatic cartography.
