The tectonic setting of the Lower Yangtze Region is complex.Huge thick marine sedimentation has been deposited since Jinning movement,so shale and mud stone of high organisms content developed well in this region, which has provided abundant material basis for the generation and enrichment of shale gas.I had studied the geological conditions of shale accumulation about the Permian System in the Lower Yangtze Region, and forecast its resources potentiality. There are several methods are used: outcrop observation, section identification,SEM,EPMA,x-ray diffraction and Rock pyrolysis analysis, asphalt content ?A?,vitrinite reflectance, organic matter composition of saturation hydrocarbon(based on gas chromatogram)and rock mechanics test and so on.According to the study: the Permian System developed completely in in the Lower Yangtze Region, whose basin-deep water continental shelf face are good to shale generation.Carbon shale and carbonic siliceous shale are thick, extensively distribution, shallow buried, and they are mostly developed in Gu Feng Formmation,Long Tan Formation and Da Long Formation who are thought to be good source rock. The shale contain less clay minerals and more brittle minerals,so the strength of rock is weak, and their TOC are high, which demonstrate that they have great potentiality in shale gas generation.Ro of this kind of shale is between 1.5% and 2.5%,which is mature enough to produce great quantity of gas.So I think the conditions of shale gas generation are good, and the resources potentiality of shale gas is huge.
