Deformation can be seen everywhere in our lives, such as cracks in the walls of buildings, cracks in road pavements, and ground subsidence in mining areas due to underground mining. These are all deformations.Deformation within a certain range will not affect people's lives, but beyond a certain range, deformation will bring various inconveniences to people's normal life, and even cause various disasters. There are many factors that cause deformation, and there are human factors in addition to environmental factors. In the construction process, the deformation of artificial structures is often caused by various subjective factors, which affects the normal use of artificial structures and may even cause various accidents. As one of the most important modes of transportation in China, the expressway will cause great security risks if it is uncontrollable, endangering people's lives and property. The most common impact on the expressway is the settlement deformation. Therefore,it is necessary to monitor the settlement of the expressway.3D laser scanning technology is a new mapping technology that changes the traditional mapping method and can even be called innovation in the field of surveying and mapping. The traditional surveying method is single-point measurement. This measurement method is not only inefficient, but also can measure only a limited number of points. However, the 3D laser scanning technology can quickly and efficiently acquire massive and high-precision point cloud data, and realize surface measurement, greatly reducing The field measurement time has improved work efficiency. At the same time, the traditional measurement methods are contact measurement. In the process of highway settlement monitoring, the highway must be closed, and the three-dimensional laser scanning non-contact measurement method does not need to consider this problem. Therefore,it is imperative to apply 3D laser scanning technology to the monitoring of highway settlement. In this paper, the application of 3D laser scanning technology in highway settlement monitoring is discussed with the example of S-city as the background of highway pavement settlement caused by subway under JH highway. The specific research contents are as follows:Using the Trimble SX10 full-station scanner for field data collection, the advantages and characteristics of the whole station scanner in the highway deformation monitoring application are analyzed. The Trimble Realworks data processing software Trimble Realworks is used as the experimental platform. The collected point cloud data is processed, including several pre-processing steps such as registration, streamlining and de-drying.Two methods were used to analyze the deformation of experimental point cloud data:the point cloud and model were compared by geomagic control software, and the influence of point cloud density on it was studied. The point based on octree mechanism and Hausdorff distance method was calculated by CloudCompare software.A direct comparison of clouds and point clouds.Comparing the three-dimensional laser scanning deformation monitoring method with the traditional level deformation monitoring method,it is verified that the application of 3D laser scanning technology to highway settlement monitoring is feasible, and it is more efficient and less workload than traditional deformation monitoring.
