Severe weather near airports is one of the main causes of flight delays.Flight delays spread through the flight network and air traffic network in the air transport system.Understanding the patterns and mechanisms of flight delay propagation is very important to predict and manage flight delays.Most of the existing flight delay propagation models and methods ignore the influence of the weather,and use the flight network or Bayesian network to predict the delay.In this paper,a large number of airport weather data and flight delay data are collected,and the flight delay network patterns under different weather systems are studied.First,by quantifying airport meteorological data to assess the critical value of severe weather at each airport.The hierarchical clustering algorithm is used to cluster the system.Secondly,based on the delay time series of airports,the improved time-delay stability algorithm is used to measure the operational correlation between airport pairs,and the delay function network is defined and constructed.Through the comparison with the traditional airport network,the characteristics of the delay function network are revealed.Then,the mean time delay and structure change of the system under different similar weather conditions are analyzed.The operating characteristics of the system are studied from the network level.Finally,the key airports in the delay function network corresponding to different similar weather days are identified by the equivalence class sorting algorithm based on the dominant relation.By comparing the flight connection ratio between airport pairs,it is found that the delay correlation between airports of different sizes has directivity and link strength difference,so as to explain the identification results of key airports.It is found that when large-scale weather phenomena occur in the air transportation system,the link strength between airports will be enhanced,which will increase the density of delay function network,increase the network efficiency,and make the delay more easily spread in the system.Two kinds of airport operation correlation mechanisms exist in the actual system,namely instantaneous correlation and hysteresis correlation.ZLLL,ZYTL,ZBYN,ZHCC and other small and medium airports in delay function network are very important.The research of this paper has important theoretical significance and application value for understanding the actual operation of the system.
