Research On Home Range,activity Rhythm And Intensity Of Hemiechinus Auritus Based On 3S Technology

Hemiechinus auritus(Erinaceidae,Insectivora)is a small mammal that feeds mostly on lizards,toads,small rodents,mole crickets and various beetles,and is good for crops,which is a secondary consumer in the ecosystem,and the population fluctuation plays a role in the relative stability of the habitat ecosystem.Whereas the degradation and changes in the natural environment caused by agriculture and other land uses have a significant impact on the Vertebrata population,particularly on the organization and movement patterns of space,the ecological data of the long-eared Hedgehog have been scarce for a long time,the study of their behavior in the wild is limited.We used GPS trackers to study 40 individuals of Hemiechinus auritus.Specifically,we calculated the home range and overlap,activity intensity and rhythm of Hemiechinus auritus.Difference of behavior between adult and sub-adult and adult male and female in different seasons was compared.The main results are as follows:(1)There were significant differences in home range,core area,maximum speed and daily moving distance between adult and subadult,and significant correlations were found between body weight and home range and core area.(2)There were no significant differences in home range,core area,maximum sspeed and daily moving distance between male and female between April and June,and they all decreased to different degrees.(3)All individuals of Hemiechinus auritus have overlapping home range,that is,Hemiechinus auritus is non-territorial.(6)The activity rhythm of adult and subadult has no obvious peak value,but the distance of movement of adult is much larger than that of sub-adult,which shows that the adult has more activity intensity.(5)The activity rhythm of adult males in April and June was relatively stable and had no obvious peak value.The activity rhythm of adult females was also multi-peaked and gradually decreased in April,but single-peaked in June.In general,the activity intensity of adult Hemiechinus auritus did not change much in two months,but compared with April,the activity time of Hemiechinus auritus decreased in June,which showed that the start time of activity was about 1 hour later and the end time was about 1 hour earlier.
