A Study Of Inclusion In The Burmite(Burma Amber)and Its Significance

Amber has a very old geological age which formed by the geological process in late Paleozoic Carboniferous to Mesozoic Cretaceous and Cenozoic geology third period.There are a lot of places having amber bearing stone in the world,except for the Antarctica.In Europe,Denmark was the first country to discover the amber.Russia has the largest amber deposit in the world.In Asia,burmite(Myanmar amber)has been manufactured by Chinese people about two thousand years.As one of the seven major Cretaceous amber deposits in the world,burmite has preserved a large number of paleontology,especially the ancient insects.In recent years,many articles about burmite’s inclusions have been published,which has drawn great attention to the current academic circle.Based on the gemological characteristics of burmite,this study research the characteristics and significance of burmite’s inclusions,especially the biological characteristics and biology of Insecta.In the study of the gemological characteristics of burmite,this paper mainly discusses the relationship between the gemmological characteristics of burmite and the inclusions of burmite by the orthogonal polarization and the ultraviolet fluorescence.Besides,The infrared absorption spectra of sample MD-1 was confirmed by IR spectra,which was in good agreement with the infrared absorption spectra of burmite.In the study of the burmite’s inclusions,about 20 inclusions were observed,which belong to 14 species of insect,like the Mycetophilidae and Tanyderidae of Diptera,the Aradidae of Hemiptera,the Grylloidea of Orthoptera,the Curculionidae of Coleoptera.In addition,this paper make an in-depth analysis on the classification of these insects.The sample of MD-Ne-B3 are identified as Orfelia Costa,the sample of MD-He-A3 belongs to Aradidae,the sample of MD-Gr are likely to be Eneopterinae,the sample of MD-Ne-B5 are as likely as Tanyderidae,the sample of MD-Co-Cu are determined to be Curculionidae,the sample of MD-Co-N are the larva of Coleoptera,the sample of MD-Hy-2 are Hymenoptera.However,some species remain undetermined.In this study,learning how to classify insecta is very important.According to the previous research,this paper summarize the external morphology and biological characteristics of Mycetophilidae,Aradidae,and Grylloidea,and discuss the significance of the burmite’s inclusions.
