Joining between multiple materials(e.g.joining of Al/Steel and metal/polymer)has attracted significant attention recently due to its advantage of great weight reduction and excellent integrated physical/chemical properties. There is a great demand on high quality joints between materials with great variety on physical and chemical properties. In this study,Fe Co Cr Ni Mn high entropy alloys(HEA)/1060aluminum alloy, metal and polymer were successfully joined respectively by friction stir welding(FSW).The z-axial load(F_z)and welding temperature near interface(T_w)during welding were properly measured.Defect-less joining of HEA/1060Al was achieved with proper joining parameters.Macroscale hook structure and microscale interface layer/scattering zone composed of intermetallic compounds contributed to the high joint strength of 2400N,and failure occurred at Al base material.By controlling T_w through adjusting welding parameters(e.g.welding time and plunge speed),not only can we achieve a good macro filling(up to 80%filling rate)of polymer and metal structure, sound micro-interlocking between metal and polymer is also obtained.High shear tensile strength(?3000N,20MPa)has been realized.
