In recent years,Electromagnetic Band Gap structure,as an emerging electromagnetic material,has attracted wide attention in society because of its advantages of improving antenna performance,and has widely used in antenna technology and microwave field.However,research on new EBG structure to improve antenna performance remains to be further explored,such as high gain EBG,wideband EBG,miniaturized EBG,and suppression coupled EBG structure.Based on the combination of theory and experiment,the miniaturized EBG and the suppression coupled EBG structure are mainly studied in this paper.This article mainly introduces the following:1.A#-shaped EBG structure is designed for miniaturization of the antenna.Firstly,the EBG structure is used to realize the theoretical mechanism of miniaturization with two common methods,the pleated capacitance method and the spiral inductance method.Secondly,according to the principle of EBG structure to support slow wave transmission.By designing the edge of the EBG patch to a meander shape,the current flow length is extended,and the inductance value of the resonant circuit is increased.Thereby reducing the resonance frequency.The simulations results show that loading the#-shaped EBG structure on the microstrip antenna,the resonant frequency is reduced by 0.57 GHz,realizing the miniaturization of the antenna.2.The E-shaped Uniplanar Compact Electromagnetic Band Gap structure is designed to suppress the coupling of the dual-frequency array antenna.Firstly,a dual-frequency array antenna loaded with L-shaped thin grooves is designed by using the coupling theory between array antennas and the coupling analysis method.Secondly,an E-shaped UC-EBG structure is proposed.According to the EBG structure has band gap characteristics that can suppress surface wave propagation.A UC-EBG structure can realize only one surface-wave suppression band gap.Two kinds of UC-EBG structures with different parameters were designed.They are cascaded between dual-frequency microstrip array antennas,and their band gaps cover the two operating frequency respectively.The simulations results show that after loading the cascaded UC-EBG structure.The coupling is reduced by 9.77 dB,and the gain is increased by 0.6 dB at 6.43GHz;the coupling is reduced by 6.8 dB,and the gain is increased by 0.7 dB at 9.22GHz.The antenna was physically processed and tested,and the measured results were basically consistent with the simulation results.
