Eye is the window of the mind.Almost 80%of the information people acquired from the world comes from eyes.Studying eye movement is the most direct and effective way to Exploring and processing visual information.In recent years,with the development of intelligent design and artificial intelligence,eye tracking technology has been widely used in the research of human-computer interaction and behavior analysis,and gradually involved in the field of design.Eye tracking technology applies great to the further research in the aspects of costume appearance modeling and fashion design elements.At present,in the process of product design,the research and development of products in domestic garment enterprises is basically dominated by the experience of the designer.Only the end market could verify the design of the product is successful or not,which invisibly increases the cost of enterprise cost and the risk of product backlog.In addition,the research on the preferences of design is mainly by means of questionnaires.Although it could reflect some commonalities from the psychology of customers,it is subjective,cannot be concretely quantified.Eye tracking is a tool that can objectively measure consumers’ attention to product information and achieve spontaneous feedback.These insights can help designers to do more successful and targeted design according to the consumer preferences.This study takes jeans as an example to analyze the feasibility,accuracy and effectiveness of eye tracking technology applied to the field of fashion design:data based analyzing the attractiveness and popularity of the design elements through the eye tracking experiment,and further explores the preferences of the different groups of target consumers in the image and appearance design of costume.Confirming the aesthetic differences between designers and consumers,and the aesthetic differences among different groups and the aesthetic commonalities between the same group with more scientific and objective data.Meanwhile,the general flow and the common-use model of eye tracking technology in testing and extracting elements of fashion design are expounded.Which is used to guide the market-oriented deviation rectification of design work and to provide objective data guidance for personalized design,clothing customization.It is hoped that through this study,this way of transforming human observation results into computer language and the idea of applying scientific and technological means to fashion design work will not only acquire a certain amount of empirical data for intelligent design,but also promote the development of fashion intelligent design,and make the fashion design process both scientific and objective.
