Tundish is a very important link in continuous casting production.In order to give full play to the metallurgical performance of tundish,it is usually realized by setting corresponding flow control devices in the package,and in order to obtain the optimal combination of flow control devices,it is necessary to use a reasonable tundish analysis model to verify.In this paper,physical and numerical simulations are used to optimize the retaining wall structure of a six-machine six-flow special-shaped tundish in a steel plant,and the rationality of the existing single-flow tundish and multi-flow tundish analysis models is analyzed and discussed the applicability of various models to this experiment.The following main conclusions are drawn.(1)Physical simulation results: the optimal scheme of each group without changing the shape of the diversion hole of the impact cup retaining wall is: the diversion hole is moved 20 mm to the right,15 ° to the left,and 1/4 to the left.Under the condition of changing the shape of the diversion hole,the optimal scheme of each group is: circular diversion hole,20 mm to the right,15 ° to the left,1/4 equivalent shielding(2)Numerical simulation results: From the perspective of the temperature field,the temperature difference between the first flow and the sixth flow of the two different optimization schemes decreased from 4.35 ? to 1.56 ? and 2.64 ? compared with the first scheme.From the perspective of the velocity field,the improved tundish steel circulation speed is accelerated,the inclusion floating efficiency is increased,the average residence time of the molten steel is longer,and the mixing is more uniform.(3)A comparative analysis of the existing single-stream tundish analysis model and several multi-stream tundish analysis models.The comparison results show that the modified combination model is more suitable for the analysis of the flow characteristics of single-stream tundish.According to a plan,the error between the modified mixed model and the modified combined model is between 11.8% and 37.6%.For the multistream tundish analysis model,the theoretical basis of Model 6 is more perfect,and the calculated volume fractions of each region are more reasonable.(4)On the basis of summarizing previous studies,a method for analyzing the flow characteristics of multi-stream tundish based on cumulative time distribution curve or F curve is proposed.Practical application shows that F curve and intensity curve can be used to analyze and compare the flow characteristics of multi-flow tundish.The revised dead zone calculation method is also more reasonable.This method can provide more ideas for studying the flow characteristics of multi-stream tundish.
