Developing new high-capacity,long-life,and high-rate performance anode materials is the focus of the development of nickel metal hydride battery at present.Studying anode materials of nickel metal hydride battery must test its intrinsic hydrogen storage performance.According to the needs of School of Environment and Chemical Engineering of Yanshan University,based on the theoretical basis of volume method and real gas state equation,the thesis developed hydrogen absorption/desorption performance testing device for anode materials of nickel metal hydride battery.The main work and research results are as follows:Firstly,the gas pipeline structure was designed on the basis of understanding the principle of materials performance testing.Considering that anode materials of nickel metal hydride battery have different platform pressures,the thesis used different ranges pressure sensors for segmented testing to ensure the absolute accuracy of the test.At the same time,the thesis built a hydrogen storage calculation model,and introduced the selection and function of the main components.In order to solve the problems of temperature instability caused by the heat absorption and desorption of anode materials of nickel metal hydride battery,and the complicated operation and the inability to understand the temperature change status of the AI-518P thermostat,the temperature control module was designed.Finally,the thesis used SOLIDWORKS software to design the three-dimensional structure and make two-dimensional drawings,and completed the processing of parts and physical construction.Secondly,the thesis designed the overall scheme of the program and clarify the modules,determined the main operating framework of the program,and used Lab VIEW software to write modules such as data acquisition,automatic zero adjustment of pressure sensors.The main program,resistance furnace temperature control program,manual test program,automatic PCT test program,automatic hydrogen absorption and desorption kinetics test program and automatic hydrogen absorption and desorption cycle life curve test program were written on the basis of the modules.Considering that the platform pressure of some anode materials of nickel metal hydride battery is lower,the conversion of high/low pressure sensor and low pressure capacity expansion function in PCT curve test have been added.At the same time,the pressure value collection method in the hydrogen absorption and desorption kinetics test has been improved.The thesis wrote the programs of hydrogen storage calculation and the volume calibration for facilitating the debugging of the device.Thirdly,the leakage rate of the gas pipeline was tested,and the measured results were all below 10-8 g/s.The volume of each part was measured by the volume calibration program according to the principle of total gas conservation.In order to verify the performance of the device and the correctness of the testing program,the corresponding tests were carried out with AB5 series anode materials of nickel metal hydride battery.The results show that the temperature control program can keep the constant temperature of the sample cell well,and the measured curve accurately can reflect the hydrogen absorption and desorption characteristics of the materials.Finally,the uncertainty of molar amount of gas in the device was evaluated to assess quality of measurement.
