TA worm drive is a kind of worm drive with excellent performance.It has the advantages of large loading capacity,long service life and high transmission efficiency.For TA worm,there are many teeth engaged at the same time.The instantaneous contact line distribution is very helpful for the forming of dynamic oil film,and the induced normal curvature is smaller.It is widely used in metallurgy,mining,shipping,water conservancy,military industry and other fields.But the worm tooth flank processing needs to transform the machine tool or purchase the special machine tool,manufacture the special tooling and tools,and the processing productivity is also very low,which limits its wide application.On the basis of three-dimensional modeling of its tooth surface,using CNC machine tools to complete the tooth surface processing is of great significance to realize the low-cost,fast and efficient production of straight profile hourglass worm.According to the forming principle of straight profile hourglass worm,the space coordinate system is established.The space equation of one tooth flank is derived by using the coordinate transformation matrix.By substituting the tool parameters into the tooth surface equation,four spatial helix equations are obtained.The four helix equations are visualized in MATLAB software,and the spatial coordinates of the helix are saved.The helixes are imported into Solidworks,and the 3D solid model of worm tooth flank is obtained by scanning and cutting.The process of parametric modeling of TA worm is described as follows: Writing code to realize data transmission between Visual Basic 6.0 and MATLAB.designing human-computer interface,recording macro in modeling process of straight profile hourglass worm,modifying and debug macro file code.In this way,the corresponding straight profile hourglass worm model can be created automatically by inputting the corresponding parameters.The actual production factors such as worm tooth thickness apportionment and meshing backlash are considered in the model,which can be directly imported into CNC machine tools for processing.Finally,according to the three-dimensional model of straight profile hourglass worm,the machining process is simulated and analyzed by Master CAM.The solid products are produced on a CNC machine combined with a 3 axis CNC vertical machining center and an additional CNC rotary table,the solid modeling and CNC machining process of the straight profile toroidal worm are completed.Without the need to reform the machine tool and purchase special machine tools,manufacturing tooling and tools,the processing cost of TA worm is greatly reduced,and the production efficiency of TA worm is significantly improved.
