Electrochromic materials are widely used in construction,traffic,science and technology products,and so on.With the increasing demand,the performance of electrochromic devices is required to be improved.The traditional single-electrode electrochromic device only has one electrode as electrochromic material,so the performance of the device has some limitations.At present,more and more researchers have begun to focus on complementary electrochromic devices,but most of the current research is limited to the assembly of different single electrochromic material electrode.From the point of view of improving the performance of complementary devices,combined with the excellent performance of electrochromic composite film,the double composite electrode complementary devices are prepared,assembled and studied:(1)WO3 films were prepared by seed-assisted hydrothermal method,and then the WO3/PANI composite films were prepared by electrochemical deposition of PANI on WO3.Then the microstructure,electrochemical properties,and electrochromic properties of WO3/PANI composite films were characterized and analyzed.The photo modulation range of WO3/PANI composite film is 74.61%at 632.8 nm,the colored time tc=0.9 s,the bleached time tb=8.8 s,and the coloring efficiency is 69.22 cm2·C-1.The prepared WO3/PANI composite films are superior to WO3 films in electrochromic properties.The improvement of electrochemical and electrochromic properties of WO3/PANI composite films is mainly due to PANI's modification of the surface morphology of WO3 films and its excellent conductivity.(2)NiO thin films were prepared by seed-assisted hydrothermal method.Then the NiO/PB composite films were prepared by electrochemical deposition of PB on NiO.Then the morphology,electrochemical properties and electrochromic properties of NiO/PB composite films were characterized and analyzed.The photo modulation range of NiO/PB composite film is 37.00%at 632.8 nm.Compared with NiO film,the modulation was increased by 30.79%.The colored time tc=10.7 s,the bleached time tb=8.3 s,and the staining efficiency 23.27 cm2·C-1.The electrochromic properties of NiO/PB composite films are better than that of single NiO films.The improvement of electrochemical and electrochromic properties of NiO/PB composite films is attributed to the unique cubic structure of PB and its excellent ion storage and transport properties.The effect of deposition time on the properties of NiO thin films prepared by chemical bath deposition was studied.By comparison,the maximum light modulation range of NiO deposited for 30 min in KOH electrolyte was 65.71%,the colored time tc=5.8 s,the bleached time tb=5.4 s,and the coloring efficiency CE=45.52 cm2·C-1.The results show that the deposition time of 30 min is the best,because the uniform three-dimensional nano-porous structure can be obtained after 30 min deposition.(3)WO3/PANI electrode film and NiO/PB electrode film were used as cathode and anode of the device,and KCl solution was used as electrolyte to assemble double composite electrode complementary device.The photo modulation range of complementary device is 55.71%,the colored time tc=3.2 s,the bleached time tb=8.1s,and the coloring efficiency is 24.63 cm2·C-1,which are better than those of the single WO3 and NiO device.This is because the performance of the composite film is better than that of the single film,and the electrode reaction process of the complementary device is synchronous and synergetic,so it shows good electrochromic performance.The double composite electrode complementary electrochromic device has excellent performance,but there is still much room for improvement.After that,the regulation of the performance of the device can be more detailed and diversified,such as boldly trying the composite of different materials,regulating the morphology of composite films and the study of electrolytes,and so on.The research of composite electrodes complementary electrochromic device is of far-reaching significance because the research of composite electrodes complementary electrochromic device has not been in-depth,and there is more room for improvement in the future.
