The catastrophe of chip flow angle generated when the double-edged tool is used for non-free cutting and the cutting control parameters continuously change has a significant impact on the process effect of the cutting process,and has great application potential in terms of energy saving and emission reduction.It is of great significance that in-depth research is carried out to find out the internal mechanism of the catastrophe of chip flow angle and establish a mathematical model for accurately predicting it.The finite element simulation of the orthogonal cutting process of the Al6061-T6 workpiece was carried out,and a set of simulation values of the cutting state parameters under different cutting conditions were obtained.The neural network model of state parameters was built with the simulation experimental data of the cutting state parameters as the data set,and the cutting experiments were carried out to verify the accuracy of the neural network model.The neural network model for cutting state parameters was introduced into the derivation process of the face turning power,and the double-edged face turning power function considering the influence of the radius of the tool tip was obtained.Based on the catastrophe theory,the swallowtail catastrophe model of the chip flow angle of the face turning was established with the cutting power of double-edged face turning as the potential function,the chip angleas the state variable,and the cutting width(6w,the cutting thickness(6c,and the cutting speed(1 as the control variables.A set of critical conditions for the catastrophe of chip flow angle was predicted,and the influence of the change path of the control variable,the tool nose radius and the entering angle on the catastrophe of chip flow angle was discussed.The double-edged face turning experiment of cone-shaped 6061-T6 aluminum alloy workpiece was carried out..It was found that the predicted value and the experimental value were in good agreement.The research in this paper lays the foundation for the application of the catastrophe of chip flow angle in the energy-saving optimization of process parameters and tool structure.
