The Research Of Furniture In Qiu Ying’s "Riverside Scene At Qingming Festival" In Liaoning Provincial Museum

It has always been an important research method in the field of Chinese classical furniture study to learn the shape and usage of traditional furniture through the furniture images in ancient artwork.As a classic of genre paintings in ancient Chinese,Riverside Scene at Qingming Festival painted by Qiu Ying in Ming Dynasty which is now collected by Liaoning Provincial Museum reflects the life of citizens of Suzhou City in Ming Dynasty from different social class,and there’re plenty of furniture appear in the paint which makes the paint become an exquisite and accurate graphic data for Chinese classical furniture study.This research will classify the furniture in the painting into statistic,and check on the details and variety of furniture in the painting through method of shaping and modelling of traditional furniture in the perspective of furniture in the Riverside Scene at Qingming Festival painted by Qiu Ying in Ming Dynasty which is now collected by Liaoning Provincial Museum.The research will combine the historical data to observe the role which the furniture was playing in in citizen’s life,and impact on it from social culture and class distinction.The research will also observe the symbolic meaning of furniture design and decoration and the change and development of Ming’s furniture design and materials,then the research will focus on it and discover the social development and historical background of those changes.The research will also conjecture the specific time when the paint was drawing by referring the furniture in the paint to the development of Chinese traditional furniture art.And refer the conclusion to conjecture the materials of furniture in the paint.In the end,the research will referring other painting of Qiu Ying to observe whether this paint was really draw by Qiu Ying in the perspective of furniture design.
