The Paper-cut Art Of Wangcheng

Paper-cutting art has been passed down for thousands of years in China.As one of the most widely spread and popular folk art,it has been made and used by almost every Chinese household in the past.It is beneficial to supplement and protect the diversity of traditional folk culture to deeply explore and subdivide the paper-cutting art of different regions.Wangcheng paper-cutting is an important representative of paper-cutting art in Central Hunan Province,and it is the fruits of the wisdom of the working people.Rich and extensive in content,and unique and diverse in presentation techniques,with distinct regional characteristics,Wangcheng paper-cutting is deeply rooted in people ’ s real life,reflecting the spiritual feelings,aesthetic tastes and values of Wangcheng people.Based on field study,the paper interviews local paper-cutting artists,such as intangible cultural heritage inheritors of Wangcheng paper-cutting,and pays visits to related paper-cutting museums and intangible cultural heritage museums for field investigation and interview,shoots and collects a large number of first-hand information,and then tries to conduct a systematic and comprehensive study of Wangcheng paper-cutting art by means of data analysis and literature research.This paper mainly focuses on the background,production technology,artistic features,folk customs,inheritance,protection and development of Wangcheng paper-cutting.Firstly,the purpose and significance of Wangcheng paper-cutting research and its research status are expounded,and then the geographical background and humanistic background related to the emergence and development of Wangcheng paper-cutting are combed and summarized.Then,the production technology of Wangcheng paper-cutting is studied and expounded from the common tool materials and characteristic paper-cutting techniques used in paper-cutting,and the artistic characteristics of Wangcheng paper-cutting are analyzed and summarized from six aspects: theme category,color research,pattern characteristics,composition mode,modeling performance and aesthetic implication.Then,from the perspective of folklore,this paper studies the hidden cultural connotation behind Wangcheng paper-cutting.Finally,focusing on the inheritance,protection and development of Wangcheng paper-cutting,it explores the current non-genetic inheritance of Wangcheng paper-cutting,summarizes the main inheritance ways of Wangcheng paper-cutting,and discusses the problems and challenges faced by its inheritance and development,as well as the existing protection situation and opportunities.Finally,it looks forward to the future of Wangcheng paper-cutting according to the investigation and study,and gives some protection and development suggestions according to the actual situation.
