Research On Shen Congwen's Thought Of Esthetics Of Apparels

Shen Congwen is a master of Chinese literature,who has written extensively,covering literature,history,and aesthetics.His masterpiece Studies on Ancient Chinese Costume is a“pioneering work” in the history of costume since the founding of New China,which has received much attention from the academic circles.Shen talks about Chinese Aesthetics has a great concern on the aesthetic evolution of Chinese traditional costumes,especially the Miao costumes.In fact,his writings have contributed to the development of archaeology and condensed a deep sense of life and emotional experience.China has a long and splendid history of costume culture.Shen Congwen's unique life experience and aesthetic discovery have separated clothing from daily use and sublimated it into aesthetic thinking,which has become an important source to understand the aesthetic taste and spirit of the ancient Chinese,therefore,the study of clothing beauty occupies an important position in the history of Chinese aesthetics.At present,scholars have focused more about his cultural relics study and his literary achievements;however,the research on aesthetic is relatively weak,and the study of Shen's costume aesthetics is generally fragmented and lacking in system.The study of Shen's costume aesthetics not only helps to enrich the theoretical resources of the Chinese aesthetics history and constructs a discourse system for aesthetic research,but also provides reference for the study on national costume.This thesis consists of three parts: introduction,main text and conclusion.The first chapter combs the formation process of Shen Congwen's costume aesthetic thoughts from two aspects.Combined with his personal experience,this thesis investigates the three stages of the formation of costume aesthetics thoughts.The triple factors,Chinese Confucianism and Taoism,Western Enlightenment and material culture,are the theoretical basis for the construction of Shen's costume aesthetic thoughts.The development is inextricably linked to his own experiences,and his unique life experiences provide a practical basis for the formation of his aesthetic thought on costume.The second chapter explains the theoretical origin of Shen Congwen's dress aesthetics thought from the relationship between Tao,body and ritual.Clothing has the aesthetic characteristics of “carrying the Tao”,“chaptering the body” and “manifesting virtue”.Clothing is the externalization of character,charm and aesthetic pursuit.It is also a powerful tool for the constraints and discipline of the ruling class.In addition,ancient Chinese clothing has become an important way to practice the concept of virtue.The three aspects are independent of each other and are highly unified in Shen Congwen's costume aesthetic.The third chapter explores the basic content of Shen Congwen's costume aesthetics from the aspects of clothing ethics and aesthetic evolution.By placing the costumes in their historical context,we can gain insight into the understanding of “beauty” in different eras.On this basis,it shows Shen Congwen's aesthetic pursuit of self-restraint and return to propriety.The fourth chapter discusses the artistic aims of Shen Congwen's costume aesthetics from three perspectives: artistic conception,artistic interest and artistic creation.This chapter seeks to return the thought to the literary text and explores the relationship between his costume aesthetic principle of both quality and beauty of literature form Shen's unique view of literature and art.Shen systematically expounds on the costume forms,changes and aesthetic interests of emperors,generals and civilians crossed the historical longitude and latitude,and creates the“triple evidence method” through the comprehensive analysis of three sources: heirloom documents,excavated documents and excavated objects.Shen Congwen's study is of great value,as it provides a profound interpretation of the spirit of the way of dress,the ethics of dress,aesthetic forms,body charm and artistic expression.It is effective to expand the boundaries and space of literary aesthetics research by exploring the artistic functions and aesthetic interests of costume in literary works.
