Analyzing The Influential Factors Of Imported Polyethylene Trade In China

Polyethylene is a thermoplastic resin,which is polymerized from ethylene monomer,because it’s chemical property is stable and has good processability and mechanical property,polyethylene has become one of the largest production and sales of synthetic resin materials in the world,and plays an important role in the chemical industry.China’s polyethylene has a high dependence on the international market.In recent years,the import volume shows an upward trend and the import dependence is high.In view of the importance of polyethylene in the national economy,especially in the chemical industry,this paper hopes to explore how to avoid the risk of polyethylene import through the study of the influencing factors of polyethylene import,and puts forward suggestions on how to promote the development of polyethylene industry and trade in the long run.This paper follows the idea that contains research background and significance,literature reviewing,research methods and paper structure,current situation analysis,exploration of import influencing factors,empirical analysis,conclusions and suggestions.First of all,based on the research methods of previous scholars,this paper explores the external environment of polyethylene import trade and the gap between domestic and foreign polyethylene products,and analyzes the current situation of polyethylene import trade in China.Then,from the aspects of environmental policy factors,price factors,demand factors and exchange rate factors,the paper combs the influencing factors of China’s polyethylene import,and in the empirical analysis,this paper creatively adds the virtual variable of environmental protection policy to study and discuss the relationship between China’s polyethylene import and environmental protection policy.In this paper,it is found that the polyethylene production process in China is relatively backward and the source of import is relatively concentrated.The price of crude oil,the price of ethylene,the increase of the output of plastic products and the high-intensity implementation of environmental protection policies will promote the import of polyethylene in China,while the impact of exchange rate fluctuations is not significant.Based on the above analysis and the current situation of China’s polyethylene industry development,this paper puts forward corresponding suggestions: in the short term,we should actively carry out polyethylene import trade to meet domestic demand,and implement polyethylene import diversification strategy to reduce import risk;in the long term,we should increase investment in technology research and development,gradually strengthen the intensity of environmental protection policies,gradually improve trade competitiveness,and strive to move from a large polyethylene import country to an export country,strive to change from a big importer of polyethylene to a big exporter,etc.
