| The concept of "low carbon economy","green economy","sustainable development" and so on make China’s foreign trade face new challenges. As governments of all countries pay more attention to environmental protection, how to reduce environmental damage while maintaining economic growth has become a major problem faced by all countries in the world.Beinhocker et al.(2008)believe that the only way to achieve the low-carbon goal and economic growth simultaneously is to increase carbon productivity. The economic meaning of carbon productivity is the economic benefits generated by the emission of one unit of carbon dioxide. The improvement of carbon productivity requires that a country’s development can no longer rely on the unlimited consumption of resources and environment, but to rely on human capital, advanced technology and other elements. In this way,the trade pattern and trade structure of a country will change, which is reflected in the increase of the export volume of high-tech products and the significant improvement of the quality of export products. How to improve the quality of each country’s export products under the influence of low-carbon economy is a major theoretical and practical problem. Therefore, this paper introduces the factor of "carbon productivity" to investigate the impact of carbon productivity on the quality of export products of various countries in the world.Firstly, this paper uses the International Monetary Fund(IMF)export differentiation and quality database from 1992 to 2010.Using Henn C,Papageor-giou C,Spatafora N L(2013)to build a method to measure the quality of export(HPS)to measure the quality of the world’s major export products in 123 countries, and according to the classification of the world bankin 2015 standards around the world can be divided into high income countries,upper-middle income countries, low and middle-income countries,low-income countries four categories, selecting typical country roughly explores the export product quality and the change trend of carbon productivity. In order to further determine the specific impact of carbon productivity on the quality of export products, this paper incorporated human capital, physical capital, foreign trade dependence, degree of opening to the outside world, export market distribution and other control variables into the model to analyze the determinants of the quality of export products of various countries in the world. On this basis, according to different income levels,123 countries were divided into four categories: high-income countries, middle and high-income countries, middle and low-income countries, and low-income countries.Empirical tests were conducted in different groups, and the following conclusions were obtained:(1)on the whole,as a core explanatory variable and a key influencing factor, the improvement of carbon productivity significantly promotes the improvement of the quality of export products of various countries. However, according to the results of grouping analysis, the improvement of carbon productivity significantly improves the quality of export products of high-income and low-income countries, but has no significant impact on the quality of export products of middle-and high-income countries. One possible reason is that countries with different levels of development have different industrial structures.(2)on the whole, both material capital and human capital contribute to the improvement of export product quality. However, according to the grouping analysis results, with the improvement of human capital and material capital, the quality of export products of developed countries will also be improved, but for less developed countries, the impact of human capital on the quality of export products is not obvious.(3)for developed countries, the impact of export dependence and import dependence on the quality of export products is not significant, but for less developed countries, increasing import dependence can improve the quality of export products. |
