| Using the methods of literature review,induction,observation and comparative analysis,this article discusses the impact that changes in the way tea was drunk had on tea wares by summarising and collating journals,research literature and writings in the context of social development,mainstream tea-drinking methods and tea painting from the Tang to Qing dynasties.With the help of the book Chinese Tea Paintings,the development of tea painting from the Tang to the Qing dynasties is explained,and the three mainstream ways of drinking tea,namely boiling tea,ordering tea and steeping tea,are used as a dividing point to discuss the tea wares required for the three ways of drinking tea.Six tea paintings from Chinese Tea Paintings are selected and the ways of drinking tea shown in the paintings are analysed in detail.Through an analysis of the characteristics of each of the different ways of drinking tea,the impact of changes in the way of drinking tea on the changes in the tea utensils required is explored,with tea mills being necessary when the way of drinking tea is the boiling method,tea mills and tea brushes being necessary when the way of drinking tea is the ordering method,and no specific requirements for tea utensils when the way of drinking tea is the steeping method,as long as a pot and a cup are used.In this way,the main influence of the change in the way of drinking tea on the tea utensils is explained,thus revealing the law of the development of tea wares. |
