With the significant improvement of national quality and the rise of environmental awareness, the public should take social responsibility for enterprises It is undeniable that corporate social responsibility has become a key indicator to evaluate the development of enterprises. The institutional pressure provides an inevitable political and ecological environment for the development of enterprises. It is particularly important to discuss the impact of institutional pressure on the performance of corporate social responsibility. In this context,in order to obtain the legitimacy of its survival and development, enterprises actively explore countermeasures, such as green mergers and acquisitions, promoting industrial transformation and upgrading, building political connections, obtaining resources, seeking "political protection",etc.Firstly, this paper reviews the literature on institutional pressure, corporate social responsibility, green M & A and political connection at home and abroad, and combines legitimacy theory, organizational institutional theory, stakeholder theory and signaling theory to lay a theoretical foundation for empirical research.Secondly,on the basis of theoretical analysis, this paper puts forward research hypotheses, and takes listed companies in heavy pollution industries as samples to study the impact of institutional pressure on corporate social responsibility and the regulatory role of green M & A and political connection. The research shows that there is a significant positive correlation between institutional pressure and corporate social responsibility, green M & a significantly weakens the positive correlation between mandatory pressure and corporate social responsibility, and significantly enhances the positive correlation between normative pressure and imitative pressure;at the same time, political connection significantly weakens the positive correlation between institutional pressure and corporate social responsibility. This shows that under different types of institutional pressures, the real motives for enterprises to implement green M & A to improve their social responsibility are different. At the same time, the construction of political connections does not really improve the performance level of corporate social responsibility. This study broadens the perspective of institutional pressure, deepens the understanding of the relationship between institutional pressure and corporate social responsibility, and provides a reference for improving corporate social responsibility of heavy pollution.
