Since China joined the World Trade Organization,China has seized the opportunity of economic globalization and created a miracle of development,but it has also brought serious environmental problems.In order to improve environmental quality,the Chinese government has put forward the policy objectives of "carbon peak in 2030" and "carbon neutralization in 2060".In addition,in recent years,economic globalization has been blocked and the world economy has been depressed.Therefore,it is necessary to speed up the construction of a new development pattern with domestic "big cycle" as the main body and domestic and international "double cycles" promoting each other.So,what is the impact of participating in the "double cycle" on China’s economy and environment? Considering that China mainly participates in the division of labor in the value chain by manufacturing industry,this paper will focus on manufacturing industry and take carbon productivity as a comprehensive index to measure the environment and economy.Firstly,based on China’s Interregional output table and the consolidated database of China’s industrial enterprises and customs,this paper measures the embeddedness of domestic value chain(NVC)and global value chain(GVC)of subdivided manufacturing industries in various provinces and regions;Secondly,through empirical analysis of the impact of dual value chain embedding on China’s manufacturing carbon productivity,this paper analyzes regional heterogeneity and industry heterogeneity;Finally,based on different domestic value chain embedding models,this paper further analyzes the spatial spillover effect of dual value chain embedding on China’s manufacturing carbon productivity.The results show that both embedded GVC and NVC significantly promote the improvement of carbon productivity of China’s manufacturing industry.This conclusion has certain regional and industrial heterogeneity: it is more significant in inland areas,and only participating in NVC division of labor in coastal areas promotes the improvement of regional carbon productivity;Embedded GVC can significantly promote the carbon productivity of high,medium and low-tech manufacturing industries,while embedded NVC can only promote the carbon productivity of hightech manufacturing industries.In addition,GVC embeddedness decreases step by step from east to west.GVC embeddedness in high-tech manufacturing industry is stronger than that in low-tech and medium tech manufacturing industry.NVC embeddedness in inland underdeveloped areas is higher than that in coastal developed areas,and NVC forward embeddedness is generally higher than that in coastal developed areas,while coastal developed areas show the opposite characteristics.Take the above into consideration,we should promote the development of double circulation;Coordinate regional development;Promote the upgrading of industrial structure,to give an impetus to China’s low-carbon intensive economy.
