| With the development of society, the aging of the population has become a worldwide trend. The "Thirteenth Five-Year Plan" National Aging Development and Pension System Construction Plan announced by the State Council predicts that by 2020,the country’s elderly over sixty will increase about 255 million people, accounting for 17.8% of the total population, social security expenditures for the elderly will continue to increase;the actual aging degree of the rural population may be further deepened. As China’s aging degree is getting higher and higher,it is a basic national condition for China to get old before becoming rich. How to improve the health level of the elderly and achieve healthy aging has become an urgent problem. The rural elderly population in China has a large base, and various basic medical security facilities in rural areas are relatively backward. Therefore, the problem of rural elderly health protection is even more urgent.Intergenerational support and NCMS,as the main source of social support for rural elderly, play an important role in protecting the health of the elderly. This article conducts an empirical analysis of the 2015 China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study(CHARLS).It mainly studies the impact mechanism of intergenerational support and social medical insurance represented by the new rural cooperative medical insurance on the health of the rural elderly, and analyzes the actual effect.Multivariate logistic regression and propensity score matching(PSM)were used to explore the relationship between intergenerational support and NCMS.Comprehensively consider the impact of family support and social security on the health of rural elderly, and strive to more comprehensively analyze the practical effects of family and social transfers and spiritual comforts on the elderly, and explore the actual effect of the new rural cooperative medical insurance. This paper is mainly divided into five chapters. The first chapter describes the research background, research significance, research ideas and framework, possible innovations and deficiencies in the research, and sorts out and integrates the research of domestic and foreign scholars on related issues. The second chapter defines the concepts of intergenerational support, social medical insurance and the health of the elderly. At the same time,it sorts out relevant theories at home and abroad to provide theoretical basis for subsequent research. The third chapter systematically analyzes the interaction mechanism among intergenerational support,NCMS and rural elderly health. The fourth chapter conducts an empirical analysis of the impact of NCMS and intergenerational support on the self-assessed health of the rural elderly, using a multivariate linear regression model to conduct an overall analysis, and then uses a propensity score matching model to further explore the net health effects of intergenerational support, net health effects of NCMS and the interaction between the two.The fifth chapter is the research conclusions and policy recommendations. The research conclusions of this paper are mainly in the following three points: 1.On the whole, the elderly who have more economic mobility between their offspring and themselves, receive more spiritual support, and have not participated in the NCMS,have better self-evaluation health status than those between families Elderly people who have less financial support and spiritual support and participate in the NCMS.2.In the analysis of the net effect of intergenerational support and NCMS on the health of rural elderly self-assessment,respondents with different intergenerational support status in households have significantly different self-assessed health status. There was a significant positive net effect of both mental and financial support on the self-assessed health of the participants, and caring for grandchildren had a significant negative effect on the self-assessed health of the interviewed elderly.Participation in the NCMS(including urban and rural residents’ medical insurance)has not exerted the expected positive health effects and even produced a negative net effect.3.There is a certain complementary effect between intergenerational support and NCMS,and it does not show obvious crowding out effect. The innovations of this paper are as follows: First, the research of scholars at home and abroad mainly focuses on the one-way intergenerational support research from the offspring to the father. This paper studies the intergenerational support of parental support to offspring and parental support from offspring, filling the gap in research on the impact of two-way intergenerational support on the health of the elderly.Secondly, when studying the impact of participating in social medical insurance on the health of the elderly, scholars mostly explore the health impact of medical insurance on the elderly or all participants, which is not representative. There are few studies on the health impact of the rural elderly alone. This article selects rural elderly as the main research object, which is more targeted. In addition, this article discusses in detail the impact mechanism of NCMS and intergenerational support on rural elderly health, and analyzes the actual situation of the interaction between intergenerational support and NCMS through an empirical model, which fills the gaps in this area. |
