Efficacy And Safety Of Metallic Stents Versus Plastic Stents For Endoscopic Drainage Of Pancreatic Pseudocysts:a Meta-analysis

Objective:By means of meta-analysis,we compare the efficacy and safety of metallic stents and plastic stents for endoscopic drainage of pancreatic pseudocysts,provide a theoretical basis for clinical treatment.Methods:We searched the English databases such as PubMed,EMBASE,Cochrane and Chinese databases like CNKI,Wanfang data,from January1,2013 to August 1,2020,find related studies about comparison between metallic stents and plastic stents for endoscopic drainage of pancreatic pseudocysts.The studies were screened and evaluated by more than two investigators and the extracted data were analyzed by RevMan5.3.Results:Our meta-analysis included 5 articles,involving 558 cases,236 cases in metallic stent group and 322 cases in plastic stent group.The analysis results show that: compared the plastic stent group,the metallic stent group can increase the clinical success(RR=1.08[1.03,1.13],P=0.001),reduce the rates of adverse events(RR=0.56[0.38,0.81],P=0.002),the RR value of bleeding(0.34[0.12,0.98],P = 0.04)and infection(0.30[0.14,0.67],P=0.003)all have statistical significance.In regard to the difference of technical success(RR=1.02[0.99,1.05],P=0.22)and stent migration(RR=1.37[0.57,3.29],P=0.48),there have no statistical significance.Conclusion:For endoscopic drainage of pancreatic pseudocysts,metallic stents are more effective and safe than plastic stents.It can enhance the clinical success,reduce the rates of adverse events,especially bleeding and infection,the two common complications.
