Objective: To study the expression and significance of complement factor B and factor D in diabetic nephropathy. Methods: 227 cases of type 2 diabetic patients and 106 healthy controls were enrolled. They were divided into Diabetic group(227 cases)and Control group(106 cases)according to the diagnosis and typing criteria of type 2 diabetes, and then according to the diagnostic criteria of diabetic nephropathy, they were divided into Diabetic nephropathy group(102 cases)and Diabetic non-nephropathy group(105 cases).Collecting age and gender information in each group of cases. The levels of complement factor B,factor D,triglycerides, total cholesterol, glycosylated hemoglobin, fasting blood glucose,C peptide, urinary albumin creatinine ratio, serum creatinine, alanine aminotransferase and aspartate aminotransferase were measured in each group. Results: 1.Compared with Control group, the levels of plasma CFB and CFD in patients with Diabetic non-nephropathy were significantly increased(p <0.05).Compared with Diabetic non-nephropathy group, the levels of plasma CFB and CFD in Diabetic nephropathy patients were significantly increased(p <0.05).2.Pearson regression analysis showed that plasma CFB and CFD levels were positively correlated with Hb A1 c,fasting blood glucose,ACR,and serum creatinine;there was no significant correlation with triglyceride, total cholesterol, serum C peptide,ALT,and AST.Conclusions: The levels of plasma CFB and CFD are significantly increases in diabetic nephropathy, which indicates that the activation of the complement alternative pathway may be involved in the development of diabetic nephropathy.
