Objective: to explore the expression and significance of matrix metalloproteinase-2(MMP-2)and matrix metalloproteinase-9(MMP-9)in chronic altitude sickness(CMS),and to provide a possible idea for the pathophysiological process of angiogenesis in CMS.Methods: 24 male patients who were diagnosed as CMS in the affiliated Hospital of Qinghai University and 24 healthy Han male patients who underwent physical examination in our hospital at the same time were selected.The levels of MMP-2 and MMP-9 in plasma were measured by ELISA method,and the clinical data of the two groups were collected at the same time.The data were statistically analyzed by SPSS26.0,and there was statistical significance when P < 0.05.Results: 1.There was no significant difference in age and white blood cell count between the two groups.2.The levels of WBC,Hb,Hct,MCV and MCH in the CMS group were higher than those in the control group,P<0.05,while the levels of PLT and MCHC in the control group were lower than those in the control group,P<0.05.3.Compared with the control group,the plasma MMP-9 level in the two groups was significantly higher than that in the control group,P<0.05,and the plasma MMP-2 levels in the two groups were similar and had no statistical signifi cance.4.The results of correlation analysis showed that(1)there was a positive correlation between the concentration of MMP-9 and Hb in CMS group(r=0.527,P=0.007),(2)there was no correlation between MMP-2 and Hb in CMS group(r=-0.014,P=0.949),(3)there was no correlation between MMP-2 level and MMP-9 in CMS group,(r=-0.054,P=0.803).(4)there was a correlation between plasma MMP-9,MCV and MCH in CMS group,(5)there was only a negative correlation between plasma MMP-2 and PLT in CMS group.Conclusion: 1.The level of MMP-9 is significantly increased in chronic altitude sickness group,and MMP-9 may play an important role in the angiogenesis mechanism of CMS.2.There is a correlation between MMP-9 and Hb,MCV,MCH in CMS group,and MMP-9 may be involved in the pathophysiological process of CMS through many ways.
