Objective: To evaluate the impact of Mako robotic-arm assisted total hip anthroplasty on the postoperative rehabilitation of patients under the enhanced recovery after surgery strategy, and to evaluate the prosthesis position of the robot-assisted total hip joint. Methods: Collected patients who underwent primary total hip anthroplasty due to secondary/primary hip osteoarthritis, osteonecrosis of femoral head(ONFH)or developmental dysplasia of the hip(DDH,Crowe type Ⅰ and type Ⅱ)in our department from April 2020.During hospitalization, all patients followed the ERAS strategy.Harris hip score,WOMAC score and VAS score were used for evaluating functional recovery and pain controlling perioperatively and in short term follow up(12 weeks). At the same time, the patient’s operation time, length of hospital stay(LOS),blood loss(including hidden blood loss and overt blood loss),inflammatory indicators, nutritional markers, radiographic measurement were record and analyzed perioperatively. Results: The patients were divided into two groups according to the principle of informed consent.Among them,24 patients received robot-assisted total hip replacement(rTHA)and 22 patients received manual total hip replacement(mTHA).Expect one patients in manual group dislocated shortly after the surgery,no complications were reported with the follow up of 12 weeks postoperatively. The operation time of the rTHA group was significantly longer than that of the mTHA group(P<0.01),and the Harris score in the rTHA group was significantly higher than that of the mTHA group(P<0.01)at six weeks after surgery, the acetabular inclination in the rTHA group was significantly preciser than that of the mTHA group.Twelve(45.5%)of the cups were within Callanan safe-zone in the mTHA group compared to 21(85.7%)in the rTHA group.no statistic significance was found in terms of acetabular anteversion, functional and pain score, inflammatory indicators, nutritional markers, blood loss,LOS.Conclusions: The Mako robotic-arm assisted total hip anthroplasty improve the orientation of the prosthesis.Although longer operation time of robitic-arm assistedTHA was taken compared with manualTHA,it would not influence the early fast recovery of THA patients followed with ERAS protocol.
