Objective: Constructing a competency model of assistant dentists with Chinese characteristics,form a competency different from that of dentists,and test the reliability and validity of the model.Based on the model,further explore the application of the competency model in the evaluation of physicians,and understand the differences in the competence self-evaluation of assistant dentists with different characteristics.In addition,it compares the competency model of assistant dentists with that of dentists,provides countermeasures and suggestions for revising the admission standards of assistant dentists’ qualification examination and optimizing the design of the qualification examination,and further improves the establishment of specialized education courses and examination system.,Improve the degree of conformity between the knowledge content of college education,the qualification examination of practicing doctors and the competence of the job.Methods: On the basis of literature collation and research,a pool of competency indicators was established through theoretical analysis and group interviews,and then Delphi expert consultation was used for indicator selection and weight calculation,and an initial competency model was established.According to the proportional stratified sampling method,a total of 1959 questionnaires in 14 provinces and municipalities in my country were tested for the reliability and validity of these data,which confirmed the scientificity and validity of the model.In addition,this study compiled a self-assessment questionnaire for oral practicing assistant physicians,surveyed 1260 assistant dentists in 14 provinces and municipalities across the country,and conducted research on the application of the competency model.Results: Group interviews formed a competency index pool of 58 items in 8 dimensions.After two rounds of Delphi group consultation,the competency model was screened to7 dimensions and 50 items.In exploratory factor analysis,the questionnaire can explain68.41% of the total difference,and the factor and item structure basically conform to the expected concept.In confirmatory factor analysis,the established model and data fit well,and the results show that the model has good reliability and validity.Finally,a competency model of assistant dentists with 7 dimensions and 50 items was constructed.The self-evaluation of the competence of assistant dentists nationwide shows that the overall competence is between "relatively consistent" and "completely consistent",and there are significant differences in the self-evaluation scores of the assistant dentists in different regions,different units and different institutions.Conclusions: The competency model of assistant dentists is composed of 50 items in 7dimensions,and the entry has the self-characteristics of an assistant dentists.It includes:clinical skills and medical services,disease prevention and health promotion,medical knowledge and lifelong learning skills,interpersonal communication skills,teamwork skills,the ability to apply information tools,core values and doctors’ professionalism.This model can provide a quantitative basis for the training and teaching evaluation of this group,and provide a basis for the reform of the qualification examination of assistant dentists in China.
