| Objective: Via conducting a hospital-based study,we purposed to ascertain the potential relationship between circulating plasma asprosin concentrations and Prediabetes. To understand the possible role of asprosin in the occurrence and development of type 2 prediabetes. Methods: The study recruited 108 adults with prediabetes,54 adults with newly diagnosed type 2 diabetes mellitus and 51 controls with normal glucose tolerance. They matched in age and sex.The prediabetes were divided into PD1(5.6≤ PFG<6.1mmol/L)and PD2(6.1 ≤ PFG<7.0mmol/L)according to fasting blood glucose level. The general clinical datas and blood biochemical indexes were measured by professional in our hospital.Plasma asprosin concentrations were measured via ELISA method. Results:Compared to the controls, plasma asprosin concentrations were significantly increased in the prediabetes mellitus adults(P<0.001),and the plasma asprosin concentration in T2 DM group was the highest.Univariate correlation analysis showed that asprosin was positively correlated with WHR,TG,TC,Hb A1 c,FPG,FINS and HOMA-IR(r=0.176-0.568,p<0.05),TG(β=0.364,0.004),TC(β=0.326,0.009)and HOMA-IR(β=0.492,0.001)were independently associated with plasma asprosin.Multivariate logistic regression models demonstrated that compared with the 1st tertile of asprosin, the odds ratio of Prediabetes was 6.901(95% CI1.936-24.6,P=0.003)for the 3rd tertile after adjustment for potential confounders.Area under ROC curve of asprosin for predicting the presence of prediabetes was0.835[95% CI 0.775–0.896].Above all,our study showed that plasma asprosin was an independent risk predicting factor for prediabetes. Conclusion: Asprosin concentrations are increased in adults with prediabetes and T2 DM.The results suggest that asprosin is closely related to the disorder of glucose and lipid metabolism in prediabetes and might serve as a risk factor associated with the pathogenesis of prediabetes. It could be expected to be an ideal biomarker for predicting prediabetes. |
