The vigorous development of virtual reality(VR)technology has profoundly changed many psychological interventions under the modern medical model, especially in the field of reminiscence therapy for the elderly with dementia, providing the elderly with a new way to relive the memories of past lives.Through combing the relevant literature at home and abroad,it is found that the foreign academic circles have paid attention to the application potential of VR scenes in reminiscence therapy. However,so far,the theoretical research and exploration of ideas for VR scene design for reminiscence therapy is still quite limited.Designers are facing a series of dilemmas in the process of creating VR reminiscence scenes. In addition, the intervention of fully immersive VR scenes in reminiscence therapy is still in its infancy, and there is currently a lack of mature application cases and sufficient usability evidence. In this context, this thesis aims to introduce the theory of narrative design, explore specific and feasible design paradigms for VR scenes in reminiscence therapy, and conduct experimental research on the benefit of VR scenes in reminiscence therapy.Firstly, this thesis studies the related theories of reminiscence therapy and VR scenes. From the perspective of psychology, the memory intervention mechanism of reminiscence therapy is clarified, and the important role of scene construction technology in the process of individual memory activation is analyzed.Combining the observation mode, technical characteristics and technical realization path of VR scenes, this thesis demonstrates the feasibility of VR scenes in reminiscence therapy. This thesis analyzes in detail the realization technology of VR reminiscence scene and summarizes the VR scene evaluation method for reminiscence therapy.Next, this thesis innovatively integrates narrative theory into the VR scene design, combined with the theoretical interpretation of narrative design, analyzes the elements, process and basic characteristics of the VR scene narrative, and proposes the narrative of the VR reminiscence scene on this basis. The design framework includes four parts:reminiscence resource probing, narrative script design, narrative scene construction and narrative interaction design. Then, this thesis explains the narrative design practice process of VR reminiscence scenes.Based on the design framework, the creation of a fully immersive VR reminiscence scene prototype "Remini-Home-Shop" was developed. Finally, this thesis evaluates the effect of "Remini-Home-Shop" in reminiscence therapy. The experimental group, the control group and the blank group were set up with the intervention medium as the variable, and the autobiographical memory task(AMT)combined with the subjective evaluation questionnaires was used to comprehensively evaluate the intervention acceptability and the efficay of the VR reminiscence scene in patients with mild and moderate dementia. In summary, this thesis focuses on the VR scene narrative design method for reminiscence therapy. The innovation of this thesis lies in:proposing a narrative design framework for VR reminiscence scenes, realizing the construction of fully immersive VR reminiscence scenes, and evaluating the intervention effects of VR scenes in reminiscence therapy.Experiments show that the VR reminiscence scene developed in this research has good intervention acceptability and efficacy in patients with mild and moderate dementia, which proves that the narrative design framework proposed in this paper has high operability. This research is an innovative academic exploration in the field of psychological rehabilitation design. It can provide a reference for reminiscence therapy mediated by VR technology and has important guiding significance for future researchers to improve the narrative quality of VR reminiscence scenes.
