Caregiver Burden And Depression In Family Caregiver Of The Uygur And Kazakh Disable Elders In XinJiang--The Moderating And Mediating Effect Of Social Support

Object: Exploring the moderating and mediating role of social support between caregiver burden and depression in family caregivers in order to provide scientific reference for developing intervention of caregiver burden and depression of Uygur and Kazakh disabled elders’ family caregivers in Xinjiang.Methods: Literature research and Investigation.Using the questionnaire data in our pre project.The cross-sectional data is conducted through multi-stage stratified cluster sampling method to the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of 621 family caregivers of Uygur and Kazakh’s disabled elders.Hierarchical regression analysis was used to explore the moderating effect of social support and the mediation effect of inspection procedures was used to explore the mediating effect of social support.Results: 1.Caregivers’ depression was positively correlated with the caregiver burden(r=0.385,P < 0.000).There was a negative correlation between caregivers’ depression,caregiver burden and social support(r=-0.554,-0.299,P<0.000)。2.Hierarchical regression analysis shows: Caregiver burden and social support affect caregiver’s depression;The standardized regression coefficient beta of the interaction term about caregiver burden and social support is-0.060,P < 0.05;Simple slop test revealed caregiver burden were significantly predict depression when social support in low and high block,Social support moderated the relationship between caregiver burden and depression;The standardized regression coefficient beta in three regression equations are c=0.328,a=-0.238,b=-0.637,c’=0.177 and the intermediary effect test are statistically significant(P < 0.000),Social support also mediate the relationship between caregiver burden and depression.The proportions of the mediating effect was 46.22%.Conclusion:1.There was a positive correlation between the caregiver burden and caregiver’s depression;negative correlation between the caregiver burden and the social support,caregiver’s depression and the social support.2.Caregiver’s social support relieves the negative impact of the caregiver burden to caregiver’s depression,the social support plays a protective role in the mental health of family caregivers.Family caregivers depression is affected directly by caregiver burden,and indirectly through social support,that is the partial mediation effect of social support.Social support of the Uygur and Kazakh disable elders in Xin Jiang eases the negative effect of caregiver burden on depression,suggesting its protective role in mental health of family caregivers.
