| Objective To explore the relationship between various clinical factors and limb osteosarcoma prognosis, and the distribution of traditional Chinese medicine syndrome types of chemotherapy-related vomiting. Methods Clinical data of 479 patients with limb osteosarcoma registered from June 2000 to March 2016 in seven cancer centers in our country and100 patients with vomiting during chemotherapy were retrospectively collected.Information about clinical conditions, recurrence and metastasis as well as prognosis of 479 patients and symptoms and sign(Including tongue and pulse condition)of 100 patents were recorded and analyzed.Kaplan-Meier survival curve and Cox regression model were used to analyze the correlation between survival rate and variables factors. And variance analysis and chi-square test were used to analyze the difference between the syndrome types of vomiting. Results Among 479 patients, there were 292 males and 187 females, aged from 3 to 74 years(average 21.4 years).3 and 5-year overall survival were 71.0%、60.0%,respectively.Single factor analysis showed that standard chemotherapy, chemotherapy regimens, tumor necrosis rate, surgery, the Enneking stage and recurrence and metastasis were important to the prognosis of patients with limb osteosarcoma. The Cox regression analysis showed that standard chemotherapy, tumor necrosis rate, surgery and recurrence and metastasis were independent factors to the prognosis of patients with limb osteosarcoma. While in 100 patients, there were 66 males and 34 females, aged from 7 to 47 years(average 17.4 years). For the syndrome type, the preoperative exogenous pathogens invading stomach was the most predominant(accounting for 35 cases);while the deficiency of spleen and stomach qi was most common in postopration(accounting for28 cases). Also, the cycles of chemotherapy and operation were correlated with the distribution of traditional Chinese medicine syndrome types. Conclusion The survival of patients with limb osteosarcoma can be significantly improved by combining standard chemotherapy and surgery treatment modalities, especially the standard chemotherapy should be paid attention to by both doctors and patients. For the syndrome types, the preoperative exogenous pathogens invading stomach was the most predominant;while the deficiency of spleen and stomach qi was most common in postopration, and the cycles of chemotherapy and operation were the main factors affecting the distribution of syndrome types. |
