Objective:By investigating the cognition of infertility and in vitro fertilization-embryo transfer(IVF-ET)patients on traditional Chinese medicine interventional assisted reproductive technology(TCM-ART),the attitudes,acceptance and information sources of these groups were investigated.To explore the direction of improving and perfecting the combination of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)and assisted reproductive technology(ART),so as to give more reasonable play to the advantages of TCM,improve the quality of TCM patients,and give better health guidance and publicity to infertile patients.Methods:This study adopts quantitative and qualitative surveys to conduct a questionnaire survey.Participants:Infertility and IVF-ET patients were treated in the Center for Reproduction and Genetics,Affiliated Hospital of Shandong University of Traditional Chinese Medicine,Department of Reproductive Medicine,Qingdao University,and Reproductive Health Center of Liaocheng Maternal and Child Health Hospital.Questionnaire content:basic demographic situation of patients(age,occupation,educational background,etc.);patient’s Chinese medicine accomplishment;patient’s cognition,acceptance and information source of Chinese medicine interventional assisted reproductive technology;work condition of informed consent in hospital and patient’s satisfaction;Patients’ expectation of traditional Chinese medicine intervention in assisted reproductive technology.Excel 2007 data entry and SPSS 20.0 were used for data analysis.Results:1.Overall:(1)Higher educational background,residence in cities,state organs,enterprises and institutions,and patients in Chinese hospitals have better understanding of TCM treatment,with statistical significance(P< 0.05);(2)patients have higher recognition of the combination of TCM and ART,and think that TCM doctors take pulse inspection,traditional Chinese medicine taboos,TCM treatment of infertility and kidney s c i e n c e a c c o u n t e d f o r 7 6.1 %,6 4.3 %,5 7.1 % r e s p e c t i v e l y.(3)Patients’ awareness of ART combined with traditional Chinese medicine and their enthusiasm for popular science learning are not high,and more than 60.0% of patients have less understanding of the use of traditional Chinese medicine as a method of contraindication and the role of traditional Chinese medicine in the treatment of infertility;more than 50.0% of patients have a conservative attitude towards ART research reports,scientific and technological products and lectures;(4)patients have a high acceptance,expectation and informed consent of ART,with a recognition of 60.3%,54.1% were willing to try ART many times,71.0% would read the informed consent carefully,67.4% thought that doctors should fully explain the content of informed consent;(5)ethical education in three hospitals needs to be strengthened,and more than 48.0% of patients said that doctors generally explained the role of drugs,simply explained the examination situation and received less ethical education when they visited the doctor.2.IVF and infertility patients:IVF patients have less concerns about traditional Chinese medicine intervention in ART,pay more attention to ART expectations and informed consent.Patients who have children through IVF are more cautious about informing others about ART,and there is a significant difference compared with infertile patients(P< 0.05).3.Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital and Western Hospital:(1)Traditional Chinese Medicine patients are more accepting of traditional Chinese medicine intervention in ART,and they are more enthusiastic about new products of TCM science and technology and ART lectures combined with traditional Chinese medicine,which have statistical significance compared with patients in Western Hospital(P< 0.05);(2)patients are half-convinced and half-doubtful about reports of TCM scientific research,and generally have low recognition of traditional Chinese medicine intervention in ART,and there is no difference between patients in Chinese and Western hospitals.Statistical significance(P>0.05).Conclusion:1.patients’ recognition and acceptance of traditional Chinese medicine intervention in ART is good,but they have less knowledge,less enthusiasm to participate in popular science publicity activities,more one-sided understanding of TCM treatment,ethical knowledge education in three hospitals need to be strengthened;2.IVF patients have better acceptance of ART than infertile patients,and pay more attention to informed consent;3.Compared with Western hospitals,Chinese medicine patients are more accredited to intervene in ART,pay more attention to new products of TCM science and technology,and have a higher enthusiasm for attending ART lectures on TCM integration.
